Be a part of continuing the expansion of East Woods Skate Plaza

For almost a decade, kids and adult sponsors in Eastwood have worked to make this dream a reality. And, now it is. But, we aren’t done yet!

Phase II and III

There are plans to expand the skate plaza further. With your support, we can make this complete, state of the art plaza a reality.

We are already seeing the advantages of this project — the plaza is busy every day, giving young people a place to go for healthy recreation. The people using the plaza range in age from elementary school to people in their 40s. Skateboarders and BMXers (bicycle motocross, if you aren’t familiar) are coexisting well on the plaza. There is not disruptive noise or trouble — the participants are too busy honing their skills. The skateboarders have asked for trash cans so they can keep the site picked up. The older skateboarders are encouraging the younger ones… and watching out for them.

If there has been any criticism from those using it, it is that the site is too small for all the activity it is getting. They have been reassured that this is only Phase I of a three part project.

The multi-level space will accommodate more skaters and provide them with additional elements to sharpen their skills. It will also serve as a venue for other types of events, helping even more Eastwood residents enjoy the benefits of this space. The design of the plaza lends itself to being used as a small amphitheatre where summer music events or short plays and other performances can take place.

Possible next phases for East Woods Skate Plaza

Future plans for East Woods Skate Plaza will move further down into the woods.

If you haven’t been a part of the East Woods Skate Plaza project yet, now would be a great time to show your support! Any size gift will help keep this moving forward and continue to improve the neighborhood we live in. Let’s not let another decade escape us without moving forward.

Please, be as generous as you can!
